Vivian Young, PMHNP, MSN, RN, is a skilled and practiced board-certified and licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Lifespan Psychiatry & Wellness Center in Houston, Texas. Vivian is devoted to providing the highest standard of mental health for patients across their lifespan.

She earned her LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) at San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas, and completed pre-requisites at Houston Community College, Houston, Texas. She has over ten years of experience working as an LVN. 

She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). She graduated Cum Laude from Texas Woman’s University in Houston, Texas, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since 2020, Vivian has served as a PMHNP Student Preceptorship, performing the Preceptor role to students.

With over 15 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN), Vivian has a particular interest in psychiatry and mental health, quality assurance (QA), home health care, skilled nursing, case management, medical/surgical care, and long-term acute care (LTAC).

As a psychiatrist, Vivian leads with medication management as a primary form of treatment. However, she can also provide support therapy in combination.

She consults with psychiatrists on cases beyond the scope of nurse practitioner qualification. She works with other staff, such as therapists and social workers, to determine diagnoses and develop the best care plan. She also collaborates with other mental health professionals and primary care providers to discuss treatment plans and patient progress.

Vivian tailors each patient’s treatment plan to individual health needs and conditions. She utilizes her educational achievements and clinical experience for continued growth, enhancement, innovation, and diversity, aiming to deliver personalized and quality care to clients consistently.

She is passionate about educating patients and families on behaviors related to mental disorders, advocates for mental health clients and their families, and facilitates therapy and crisis response to clients.
